Sustainability Reporting Framework for an Angus Beef Producer

SEAOAK was engaged by a large Australian Angus Beef Producer to develop a sustainability reporting framework that would de-risk the business and help to tell the farm's sustainability story in a more impactful way.

What we did

We developed a sustainability reporting framework that would enable the agribusiness to tell their farm's sustainability story in a more meaningful and impactful way. The reporting framework that we developed was an extension of the Australian Beef Sustainability Framework (ABSF) and also incorporated Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, Australian Agricultural Sustainability Framework (AASF) standards, United Nations Development Goals (UN SDG's), and the latest Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) related to mandatory climate reporting.

The framework consisted of four sustainability pillars - animal health and welfare, economic resilience, environmental stewardship, and community impact.

Project outcomes
Outcome 1: The farm has a streamlined method for measuring progress and tracking sustainability goals over time, also resulting in a more meaningful way of telling their story to consumers and upstream supply chain partners.

Outcome 2: The reporting framework will be embedded throughout the business as a continuous risk mitigation tool, ensuring the farm is set up for long-term profitability, productivity and sustainability. The framework highlights areas for continuous improvement.

Outcome 3: The reporting framework aligns to global standards and best practices and incorporates elements of the latest requirements for mandatory climate reporting. This will enable the farm to be prepared for any impacts to their business as a result of upstream regulatory changes.
